Safety Occurrence Reporting and Analysis (SORA)

Introduction

Civil aviation organizations are moving towards proactive schemes focused on accident prevention by the analysis of relevant captured safety data.

Aviation community is encouraged to report, collect, analyze and exchange safety data to achieve improvements. Proactive and performance-based approaches are under implementation by organizations as part of their Safety Management Systems and State Safety Programs.

The SORA course has been developed by SENASA to provide the applicable regulatory and practical material for the management of Safety Occurrence Reporting and Analysis systems, together with practical skills to make better use of tools and methodologies for safety data exploitation.

SORA course is offered to the Aviation Community on a regular basis in our facilities in Madrid (Spain) and through TRAINAIR PLUS Centers. External on-site delivery also available upon request.

SENASA is an accredited TRAINAIR PLUS Center since November 2011.

Learning objectives

Achieve the required knowledge, skills and competences necessary to gather, manage and analyze safety report within SMS/SSP frameworks.
Provide a global view of Occurrence Reporting Systems and their relationship with Safety Management Systems and State Safety Programs.
Review applicable international regulations.
Familiarize methodologies used for safety reports management, analysis and safety performance monitoring.
Describe international standardized taxonomies and supporting tools.
Extract relevant basic bibliography and references to allow continued awardness of state of the art on these matters.

Introduction

PART 1: Provides theoretical principles related to the implementation of ICAO SARPs and fundamental concepts of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and State Safety Programs (SSP).

PART 2: Provides practical knowledge in the application of the processes of risk management and safety assurance. Course developed with the support of practical exercises and world accepted best practices and IT tools (Bowtie XP).

The course has been accredited by ICAO in content and form in accordance with the TRAINAIR PLUS Competence-Based Training methodology.

Upon course completion, participants will receive a certificate issued by ICAO and a temporary BowTieXP software temporary license. This IT tool, developed by CGE Risk Management Solutions , is leader in the field of safety management.

Learning objectives

The course aims to provide qualified SMS/SSP staff with a comprehensive application of operational safety management processes and practical examples on the use of IT tools, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of safety management activities.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
Part I On-line:
Apply the fundamental concepts and principles of aviation safety management.
Develop SSP/SMS implementation plans based on the frameworks provided in ICAO safety management SARPs and guidance material.
Perform or participate in their organization’s SSP/SMS implementation and operation.
Part II: Face-to-face:
Identify hazards following a systematic and consistent approach.
Mitigate safety risks following a systematic and consistent approach.
Manage changes to the system in a safe manner.
Assess safety reports through a safety screening and internal investigation.
Prepare a safety audit/survey for assessing performance of the process.
Design a safety performance monitoring scheme.

Introduction

This course on the EU Aircrew regulation is intended for training of NAA inspectors in order to fulfil their obligations in relation to the holders of medical certificates and organisations involved medical certification of aircraft crew members.

Learning objectives

By the end of the training course, the NAA Inspector participant in the course shall be able to:
Know in detail the rules applicable to the certification process of the aircraft crews members;
Know the European organization of the licensing and aeromedical system;
Handle with ease the aircrew legislation;
